Computers

“HI”  I am Mrs. Carlisle, your student’s Keyboarding and Digital Literacy teacher.  I have been working at Lincoln Academy for the past 8 years.  I have worked mostly in 5th grade but have on occasion taught in the music department, the 6th grade, and physical education department. I love assisting the teachers I have worked with each year and I love being around different students every year.  Every student has their own, unique, and wonderful personality.

This year I will be focusing on their digital and keyboarding skills.  I will be using a mix of interactive software, gamified drills, and mini projects to learn keyboarding and other essential computer programs.    In the classroom we will learn proper finger placement and posture for typing.  We will build the typing skills of accuracy and steady speed progression slowly through the year. We will be building onto the skills each week.   For my upper elementary students we will be  learning about new computer programs and how they can be used for future assignments.   In the classroom we will also learn about digital safety and how to be a responsible person online.  My goal is to transform students from “hunt-and-peck” typists into  touch-typists and to build digital confidence for their future academic and career success.
