Katy Beagley
Sixth Grade Math Teacher
I attended Utah State University and proudly consider myself an Aggie. I have trulyenjoyed teaching junior high and am excited to begin a new adventure teaching 6th
grade. As a student, math did not always come easily to me, and there were times when I found it frustrating. Like many students, I went through a stage where I disliked math.
However, through perseverance and support, I was able to overcome those challenges. Because of those experiences, I strive to help students build confidence in themselves
and realize that they, too, can succeed in mathematics. My goal as a teacher is to prepare students not only for academic success, but for life. Mathematics is an essential skill that students will use every day, making it an important subject to understand. More importantly, I believe students should learn how to become thoughtful, responsible, and successful individuals. Academic achievement has greater meaning when paired with strong character and personal growth. In my classroom, I emphasize the importance of integrity, goal setting, perseverance, and positive character development. I encourage students to reflect on the principles behind their actions and to develop habits that will help them succeed both in and out of the classroom. Our world needs compassionate, resilient, and responsible citizens who are prepared to face challenges with confidence and determination.
