Jeanne Mather

I was born and raised in Southern California right near the Jet Propulsion Laboratory – so I have been a space science fan all my life!  After graduating high school, I attended Brigham Young University in Provo where I earned my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education.  I met my husband at BYU and have lived in Utah County ever since.  We have 6 kids, all of which have attended Lincoln Academy!  We also have grandchildren – they’re a lot of fun!

I’ve always been a bit of a social butterfly, so I love working with the staff and the students – it’s always a great day at Lincoln Academy!  In my free time, I enjoy reading, quilting, and going to the movies.  I absolutely love spending time with my family and friends. I am also a huge fan of traveling.  We’ve been all over the United States – my favorite trip was taking our whole family to Puerto Rico.  Traveling is a great way to learn more about history, learn more about different people and cultures, as well as seeing all the beauty all around us.  We love to visit U.S. History sites and National Parks, and of course, the beach.  I love light houses so we try to add local lighthouses to our travel itinerary, too.  I am also a huge fan of the arts – we visit as many art museums and concerts and events as possible.  Our travels often also include a MLB game when we’re visiting different cities.  

As for my teaching experience, I taught 5th grade in Provo School District before having children and then kept up my teaching certificate as I continued to take education courses and substitute for Alpine School District over the years as I stayed home with my kids.  I started working at Lincoln in 2018 with the 5th graders and then moved over to the Junior High in 2020.  I am currently the Fledglings Room Supervisor and teach Study Hall courses, as well. In Study Hall, we focus on goal setting, checking-in with our progress, being proactive in communicating with teachers of their other courses so we can use Study Hall to catch up on work, redo lower test scores, and prepare for future exams and projects.  It’s been a joy to get to know my Study Hall students and work with them as they make progress with their goals.  I also proctor end-of-year RISE testing exams and help with the diagnostics testing throughout the year for the Junior High.  

I have loved working with the teenage-aged students at Lincoln Academy.  Junior High students are at a pivotal time of life where they’re learning who they are and discovering what their interests and strengths are.  They’re working hard to improvez themselves daily socially & academically.  It is a great opportunity to encourage them to be kind to others and to themselves as we are all still learning lessons in life.  It’s impressive to see how much they’ve progressed throughout the school year as they continue to work on relationships with friends and fellow teachers, as well as how much they’ve learned academically!
