A Good Time to Pick Up Ice Skating

Welcome back to Lincoln at a Glance! One thing I love in nature is balance and opposites, making this time of year absolutely beautiful! During the day, it stays just warm enough to melt the snow, and at night, it’s cold enough to freeze it back over, creating a wonderful icy layer between our tires and the road. In other words, it may be a good  time to pick up ice skating to ensure you get to school on time!

As important as ice skating is, make sure to read the rest of the announcements!

Career Fair Volunteers Needed!

We are looking at a more hands on approach this year and would like presenters to showcase their profession in an exciting and engaging way for our students to learn more about your career pathway. We have identified several needs, but are willing to entertain any professions that the students may be interested in. If you are someone who is a part of the following or knows someone who may be willing to come present, these are just a few of the professions we are looking for:

  • Professional Chef
  • Electrician/Plumber/Building Trades
  • Mechanic
  • Computer Programmer
  • Nurse
  • Police/Fire
  • Author
  • Animator
  • Cyber Security
  • Data Analyst
  • Cosmetology
  • Robotics
  • Athletic Training / Physical Therapy
  • Therapist Veterinarian / Vet Tech
  • Lawyer
  • Animation

Presenters would take 2-4 different groups of kids through sessions outlining how they became interested in their profession, what education/skill set is necessary to enter the profession, what the earning potential is for the profession, and what non-monetary perks are associated with that profession. We would also like to this year’s fair focus hands-on to get our future employees as excited as possible. The sessions run 50 min. or 90 min. at 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Presenters are welcome to come to campus at 8:15 am to set up in the classroom they are assigned to. We will also be feeding you lunch.

Second, we would like to provide a couple off campus field/industry tours. If you are someone who is a part of an organization/company or knows someone who may be willing to provide guided tours for about 30-40 students between 8:00 – 1:00 on April 10th please reach out to us.

If you can help us out in any way or know of people who would be willing and interested in introducing our kids to the world of work, we would be most grateful! Please email either Mrs. Falcon (falcon@lincoln-academy.org), or Mr. Proetel (proetel@lincoln-academy.org) with your information.

Thank you so very much for all you do to make education meaningful for our students!

Lincoln Birthday Celebration – Volunteer Needed!

Lincoln Families – Parent Council is having an evening of service for our Lincoln Birthday Celebration on Monday, February 26th at 6:00 pm in the Jr. high gym. Please help us make this evening a huge success by donating items and monerary donations are welcomed as well! Thank you for all your support and your volunteer hours always help us make these experiences possible and we can’t do it without your help. If you would like to make a monetary donation, you can Venmo at: @Brittany-Jones-246. We will have a donation box by the front office where you can drop off your items. Please have all items dropped off to the school by Friday, February 23rd.
