Michael Corless

‭ My name is Coach Michael Corless, and I am proud to serve as your child’s physical education and health teacher this year. Born and raised as the youngest of seven near Detroit, Michigan, I developed an early appreciation for teamwork, resilience, and the value of staying active. I earned my associate’s degree from Ensign College, followed by a Bachelor’s in Physical Education and Health Education from Brigham Young University, and later received my Driver’s Ed endorsement. I’ve been happily married for 15 years, have three wonderful children, and am excited to welcome a fourth soon.

With over a decade of teaching experience, I bring an energetic passion for both physical fitness and health education. Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed how a strong foundation in movement and health can transform students’ confidence, well-being, and outlook on life. I know that PE and health classes often have a negative reputation, but my goal is to change that by making our lessons engaging, positive, and fun. I want every student to look forward to breaking a sweat, learning about their bodies and minds, and discovering the joy of healthy living.

This year, I plan to introduce a wide variety of activities—from volleyball to running—utilizing both indoor and outdoor resources in our community. In health lessons, we’ll explore important topics like nutrition, mental health, personal safety, substance abuse prevention, and building healthy relationships. My aim is for each student to find activities and habits they truly enjoy and can maintain for life, whether it’s an individual pursuit like running or swimming, a team sport, or making healthy daily choices. I recognize and respect that every child is unique, with different interests and abilities, and I am dedicated to helping them overcome challenges and build on their strengths.

In my classroom, students will always be encouraged to support one another, challenge themselves, and ask questions in a safe and respectful environment. My hope is to ignite a lifelong love for physical activity and healthy living, empowering students to continue growing well beyond our time together.
