Syd Larsen

My name is Syd Larsen and I have been at Lincoln Academy since 2017 as the Elementary Art teacher. I am a mother of 8 and grandma of 4 and have been married to Mr. Larsen for 36 years. I have a bachelor’s degree from BYU in Art History and a Masters Degree from WGU in Elementary Education. I love my job! Each day I have the privilege of greeting our students and welcoming them to school. It is a part of my day that I feel is the most important part of my job. Knowing each student by name and acknowledging them lets them know that they belong at Lincoln! In 2024, Katherine Jones and I started an Elementary Student council to help promote kindness and respect among our students. It has been a great opportunity to involve students and give them a chance to serve each other. Each trimester we change the student reps giving more students the opportunity to serve.
As an art teacher, I have tried hard to develop a program where students do not believe that they are not artists. If Picasso can say his art is art, why can’t our best efforts be art as well? There is no wrong answer in art! We have a lot of fun as we explore paintings, create, and try things we haven’t done before. The art room is where fun happens!
