Joshua Camp

I’ve been teaching highschool/middle school for eight years now, and I’m entering my second year here at Lincoln Academy. I have a passion for learning history and teaching it to the rising generation. I believe there is so much from history that can help kids in their lives as they grow and form their own identities, and I love helping them discover that. My goal is to help history come alive for students through engaging lessons and learning activities.
I originally grew up in the desert of Southern California in a city called Lancaster. I came to Utah in 2008 to attend BYU and graduated in 2012. I’ve been married for 16 years to my wife Shannen, who is also originally from Lancaster. All my students know my wife is the most interesting part about me as she is a gamer, author and a licensed Mortician. Together we have 3 kids, Sovay who is 8 and entering 3rd grade, Lincoln who is soon to be 6 and is entering Kindergarten, and Lou who is 4 and in preschool.
In my free time I love to spend time with my wife and kids at home, or going on hikes or some type of adventure with them. I love to watch shows and movies with my wife, especially creepy shows once our kids are asleep. I also enjoy going golfing with my dad and brothers even though most of my students tell me it’s an old man’s sport. My one unhealthy obsession is BYU football. My wife makes fun of me for the nightmares I have every year a few months before the season starts of not being able to watch the games for some reason. I bring balance to the force in our hallway here at Lincoln since I’m across the hall from Mr. Keupper who is a big Ute fan.
I’m so excited to work with some of my students from last year and to meet some new students this upcoming school year. I’m ready for another great year at Lincoln Academy!
