Language Arts

I am so excited to start my fifth year at Lincoln Academy! Education is my passion. I have been a teacher for 22 years and have taught jr. high, high school, dance, and preschool.

I grew up in Pleasant Grove, the oldest of 3 siblings. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be an educator. In elementary school, I could often be found creating language arts, math, or science lessons to share with my siblings and neighbors in the classroom I created in our living room. I started dancing when I was three years old. In high school, I started teaching dance lessons at a local studio. I loved teaching students of all ages, and the job not only cemented my decision to be a teacher, but also paid my tuition. I graduated from BYU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with endorsements in Health, English/Language Arts, and Driver Education.

In college, I met and married my best friend, Riley. Together we have three amazing boys, Max, Sam, and Jack, and two dogs. When we are not at school, we can be found exploring. We love riding OHVs and discovering new trails throughout Utah. We also enjoy biking, hiking, swimming, camping, and boating. We spend many weekends watching our boys compete at swim meets.

When I am not exploring the great outdoors, I love to explore in books, video games, and movies. I have an extensive collection of all three, and I am too indecisive to pick favorites. I am also a big fan of the 3 D’s: Disney, Donuts, and Diet Dr. Pepper. I enjoy planning vacations, and I look forward to visiting theme parks and beaches as often as possible.

My classroom is a safe, consistent, strict, and fun environment. I enjoy cultivating a love of learning in all students and helping students find their unique strengths and talents. In my classroom, we will develop strong grammar and vocabulary skills, read and analyze literature, and become stellar writers and critical thinkers. Students will be expected to challenge themselves and always give an honest effort.
