Growing up, I loved to play school with my two younger sisters. I would bring home assignments from school and recreate them and teach them to my sisters and explain the concepts on our whiteboard in my parent’s basement. When I was in 5th grade, my mom went back to teaching 3rd grade, and I loved being involved in anything she did for her classroom, from stamping excellent on papers to seating charts and everything in-between. Even though I had a love for school and playing teacher, my desire to become a teacher grew when I became a TA in a 3rd grade classroom at Lincoln. I was impressed by the teacher’s ability to make each student feel loved and empowered. She knew their strengths and knew how to teach to each student. I soon realized I wanted to make that same kind of impact on students of my own.
I graduated from Brigham Young University, and I am now heading into the classroom. I have spent time as a TA at Lincoln over the past five years and have learned so much from the different experiences I was able to have. I am looking forward to putting everything I have gained to work, and I look forward to learning along the way.
On a more personal note, I grew up in Lehi, Utah, with two younger sisters, it’s been a blast to grow up with your best friends. I married my sweetheart three years ago, and we just had our first baby in July. In my free time, I love to be with my family dreaming about the beach, arranging wedding bouquets, and taking long walks down the ice cream aisle.
I am very excited to be a member of the Lincoln Academy team this year, and I am really excited to work with the youngest minds. I love watching them realize the power of learning and trying new things. I love listening to them tell stories and make new discoveries.
