Teaching and learning is a lifestyle, not just something that happens at school. I believe in fostering a strong relationship with the students, teachers, and parents in order to maximize the potential growth for every child . I taught Special Education resource classes for several years, taught at the Provo Missionary training center for several years before that, and I have always desired that every student I teach grows more than they think they could have. I have always expected honesty and hard work from those who I have taught, and in return they learned: I would have patience, I would be understanding, I would push them to do better than they think they can, and that I sincerely care for them.
I have passions for many different aspects of life. I love the outdoors and competitive games. Those who know me well will laugh if you tell them I am not competitive and I am always ready to try new games and activities. I pole-vaulted in high school and ran cross country. I have played on more than 20 soccer teams. I love to swim, bike, camp, hike, and compete in triathlons. I also enjoy archery and reading. I go to the public library at least once a week! I also work with my hands. I have framed houses, roofed commercial buildings, tiled homes, and worked on cabinets, electrical, and plumbing.
Teaching is more than a job, it has been a way of life for me. As the oldest of 7 kids, I helped and played with younger children and youth, and have always enjoyed being with them. I have coached a couple of soccer teams, been a Boy Scout leader, and my favorite part of visiting my family is playing with my younger siblings. I went on an LDS mission to Switzerland, where I learned German and realized how strong my passion for teaching really was. When I returned home, I then worked at the Missionary Training Center in Provo for over three years teaching young men and women in preparation for their missions in Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. I also coach the Cross Country team here at Lincoln.
This is my sixth year at Lincoln and I have seen so many positive changes that have helped the students here achieve and learn and grow in miraculous ways. This school has a culture of change based upon student needs, and I believe that the culture has driven Lincoln to become better every year. The school has the most incredible staff that is all so great to work with. This year I will continue be in an administrative capacity at the school, and I will continue to be the Cross Country team coach.
