from the Parent Council
May 20, 2009From Mr. Hunt
Parents and students:
Thank you so much for all your hard work, dedication, late hours, willingness to volunteer, patience, understanding, ability, and support throughout the year. I have seen amazing things happen as students, parents, and teachers work together. We have a fantastic group of families that attend Lincoln Academy. It has been a joy to work with you this year!
I hope you all have a safe, fun summer. Remember to make time to read for fun, and squeeze in a little math review. If you have time, we have some great summer classes being offered. I look forward to another great year next year where we can all continue to help students grow and succeed.
Thanks,
Mr. Hunt

Enrollment Notice
Just a reminder that if your student plans to attend another school for the 2009-2010 school year, please notify the school immediately. You can also send a message to enrollment@lincoln-academy.org. We have many siblings and several hundred prospective students on the waiting list.
A Big Thank You!!
The Board and Administration, along with the parents of Lincoln Academy, wish to thank a few of our parents for the many hours of service to each and every one of our children.
First, Brandt Gibson. Brandt has served as Vice President of the Parent Council for the last four years. He has put in countless hours and endless nights planning and executing activities for the school. Due to term limits in our charter, Brandt will not be able to continue to serve in this position. We are truly grateful for the service Brandt has given to all of your children.
Next is Amy Dahl. As many of you know, Julie Cattani, our PC President, had to resign at Christmas time due to a change in jobs and a move to California. Mr. Hunt appointed Amy Dahl to fulfill the position in January. Amy has stepped in and organized the PC into a “fine oiled machine.” Amy serves on the Enrollment committee also, and therefore was able to help countless families acquire their needed 40 hours of service this year. We are grateful for Amy and the service she has given to the school and each family.
We also appreciate Heather Campbell for serving as the Parent Council Secretary this year. She was such a great support at the PC meetings and activities.
More Student Officers
Congratulations to the following students for being selected to fill the appointed Student Officer positions for next year:
Journalism Coordinator- Nate Smith
Athletic Coordinator- Emily Orton
Photographer- Sarah Kingsolver
Student body secretary- Natalie Hymas
Scholarship Opportunity
Our families are eligible to win a $10,000.00 scholarship through Landsend.com. All the parent needs to do is go to landsend.com and type in scholarship in the search field. This will pull up the window for them to fill out. It is really that simple. The families are eligible due to the fact we participate in their school uniform program. Winners will be notified the first part of August.
JH Choir and Band Trip
At the end of last month, the Jr. High choir and band attended the Heritage Festival which is an international festival competition held around the country. The students are graded on a national level so no matter what Heritage Festival you are in, you are graded on the same criteria. The Concert Band, which was a combination of Beginning Band and Advanced Band won a bronze medal, which is amazing because a number of these students haven't even been playing their instruments for a year. The Concert Choir earned a Gold and 1st place award! The Women's Choir received Gold and 1st place, as well. The students also got a treat of going to Disneyland, which was where the awards ceremony took place. Way to go band and choir students and Mrs. Parker!
